    • The 2004 model year of the Silverado saw the introduction of a redesigned body and front fascia. The Silverado has served as Chevy's half-ton full-size pickup for several generations of production and is offered in a number of different permutations and versions. A number of different trim levels are available, including a high-performance SS model.

    Engine and Drivetrain Features

    • A total of four different engines were available for the Silverado's 2004 model year. The base model engine is a 4.3-liter V-6 that produces 195 peak horsepower at 4,600 rpm and 260 pound-foot of torque at 2,800 rpm. The remaining engines available on the Silverado are all V-8 engines. The base model V-8 produces 285 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 295 pound-foot of torque at 4,000 RPM. A midrange 5.3-liter V-8 engine is also offered that produces 295 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 330 pound-foot of torque at 4,000 rpm. The most powerful V-8 comes equipped with the SS trim level of the truck, producing 345 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 380 pound-foot of torque at 4,000 rpm.

    Exterior Dimensions

    • The dimensions of the Silverado can vary depending on whether or not the truck is a short bed or long bed, has a regular cab or crew cab, or if it has an extended cab. Depending on the same variables is the truck's curb weight. The short bed, regular cab Silverados have a total length of 205.7 inches and a wheelbase that measures 119 inches. The long bed models of the truck feature a 224.5-inch length and a wheelbase that measures 133 inches. The extended cab models are slightly larger than the regular cab models, with a total length that measures 230.2 inches and a wheelbase that measures 143.5 inches. Though the SS has a short bed and regular cab, it is about the same size as an extended-cab-base model Silverado, with a 227-inch length and 143.5-inch wheelbase.

    Interior Specifications and Features

    • The base model Silverado provides standard seating for three passengers on its front-row bench seat. The extended cab and four-door crew cab models increase the standard seating from three to six passengers, utilizing a second row bench seat. Across all trim levels, front passengers receive 41 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom. Rear passengers in the extended-cab models receive 38.4 inches of headroom and 33.7 inches of legroom. The crew cabs offer more interior space for rear passengers, with 40.2 inches of headroom and 39.1 inches of legroom.
