Car Audio Installation for Ford Taurus
- 1). Lift the Ford's hood and loosen the bolt that secures the negative battery cable to the negative battery terminal with the socket wrench. Lift the cable from the battery and rest it away from the battery terminals. Move to the inside of the vehicle.
- 2). Slide the Ford DIN tools into the holes at either end of the Taurus' stereo face. Push each tool into the holes until they lock into place. Pull the tools outward while sliding the stock stereo from the stereo dock. Disconnect the two white, plastic wire binders from the outlets on the back of the stereo. Unplug the antenna cable from the FM antenna outlet on the back of the factory stereo.
- 3). Insert the faceplate adapter into the vacant stereo mounting dock. Feed the stereo wiring and antenna cable through the back of the adapter. Plug the stereo wiring binders into the wiring harness adapter leads.
- 4). Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the appropriate outlets on the back of the new stereo. Consult the aftermarket stereo's manual for locations of the wiring outlets. Plug the antenna cable into the antenna outlet on the rear panel of the new stereo.
- 5). Slide the new unit into the stereo faceplate adapter. Push the unit into the dash until it locks into place. Return to the Ford's battery.
- 6). Place the negative battery cable clamp over the negative battery terminal. Tighten the bolt on the clamp with the wrench. Close the Taurus' hood.
