Lower Blood Pressure Naturally - Controlling Hypertension the Old Fashion Way

It is possible to lower blood pressure by using natural means.
Most people agree it is desirable to overcome any ailment or disease without resorting to drugs.
Therefore, going the natural route is preferred.
In this article, we will discuss how to go about lowering blood pressure naturally.
Speaking from experience, I can tell you what I think is the most important thing in controlling blood pressure.
I was first diagnosed with hypertension at a very young age.
Now, many years later, my blood pressure readings are better than they were back then.
Yes, it is true; a lot has changed since then.
Youth isn't Everything Even though I weigh more and definitely have a worse body mass index now than I did when I had severe hypertension, I still think weight control is important.
However, when analyzing my life, I realize my weight influenced my blood pressure very little.
It was my general lifestyle that created my problem.
Let me explain.
Though I was young and appeared to be in good shape, I was becoming unhealthy simply because I lived in an unhealthy way.
I drank, smoked and really didn't eat very well at all.
On top of that, my hobby was bowling.
While one could certainly find bowling to be very relaxing, I was a very competitive bowler.
I practiced for long hours and when I bowled in a league, I simply had to win.
Even worse, is the fact that I smoked about a pack of cigarettes while I bowled.
When bowling was over, I threw down a few beers.
This is the way I lived almost every night.
An Awakening? Not Really One day I went to my doctor for a checkup and found I had elevated blood pressure.
I was instructed how to eat and loosely speaking, live in a way that would help me overcome hypertension.
Actually, for the most part I ignored my instructions.
So, when I returned to the doctor I was prescribed medication.
I took this medication for many years with minimal side effects.
Taking the medication was very easy to do and it probably saved my life.
I take very little medication now, but I still take some.
I'm probably in better health now than I was several years ago simply because of lifestyle changes.
I no longer smoke.
I still like a few beers now and then but we're talking a few a week, not a few an hour.
I'll eat some kind of fast food or junk food occasionally, but for the most part I prepare, or more accurately my wife prepares, meals made from fresh foods.
Following Doctors Orders These changes have made a huge difference in my life.
I feel better now than I did when I was 25 years old! However, I really didn't do anything revolutionary.
All I really did was finally follow my doctor's orders.
So the moral to the story is, you should see your doctor for regular checkups and if he tells you your BP is high, you should listen to his advice about lifestyle changes.
It's that simple! If you are prescribed medication it is nothing to be upset about.
People can live on today's blood pressure lowering medications for several decades without any ill effects.
This may have not been the natural blood pressure advice you are looking for.
However, uncontrolled hypertension is a killer and if you have it, I highly recommend you are treated by a doctor.
