How to Replace a Lawn Tractor Battery
- 1). Lift the driver seat of the lawn tractor on its hinge and rest it against the steering wheel.
- 2). Unbolt the negative battery cable from the lawn tractor battery using the socket wrench, and then remove the positive battery cable.
- 3). Unfasten the strap that holds the battery in its compartment. On some brands, this strap is rubber and simply slips off of a peg. Other brands of lawn tractor have the retaining strap bolted to the battery tray.
- 4). Lift the battery out of the battery tray, then place the new battery in its place. Replace the strap, then the red power cable and then finally the black ground cable.
