Family Activities in Pueblo, CO
- The Pueblo Plaza Ice Area offers residents and visitors the opportunity to learn and practice ice skating. In addition to skating lessons, "Sticks, Pucks, and Parents" every Sunday afternoon gives parents and children the opportunity to practice their ice hockey skills. Every Friday night, the area is transformed into a showcase of light and sound as skaters glide across the rink. The arena is open daily and located in downtown Pueblo.
- The 32-acre Historic Arkansas Riverwalk of Pueblo is an urban waterfront development along the Arkansas River in the downtown Pueblo. The site includes plazas for family gatherings and picnics, over 25 bronze animals, fountains and indigenous plants. In addition to guided excursions along the river, pedal boats and gondolas are also available for visitors interested in exploring the river. Special events, including concerts and a farmer's market, are also held at the site.
- Located in the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center, the Buell Children's Museum allows children to learn about the arts, science and history through hands-on exhibits. Visitors can take the stage in their own production at the El Pomar Magic Carpet Theater or create their own works of art in the Artrageous Studio. The barnyard-theme Buell Baby Barn is designed especially for children under the age of four. A cafe is located on-site for light meals and snacks.
- In late August and early September, Pueblo is home to the annual Colorado State Fair. Tracing its roots to 1872, the fair attracts visitors and residents for nearly two weeks and features carnivals, pavilions, livestock and horse shows, giant fruit sculptures, rodeos and concerts. In the Agricultural Pavilion, children of all ages can see a variety of farm animals and participate in hands-on activities, including in a roping arena. The fairgrounds are located on an 80-acre site southwest of downtown.
