How to Build a Garage Pegboard
- 1). Use the stud finder to find the studs in the wall you will be hanging your board on, and place a mark in the center of each stud that will be within the span of your board at both the height of the top support of the pegboard and the height of the bottom support of the pegboard.
- 2). Cut two pieces of 2-by-4 as wide as your board will be.
- 3). Screw the top and bottom 2-by-4s to the wall over the marked points to begin the frame. The frame is essential because your board will need empty space behind it to hang the hooks through.
- 4). Cut a 2-by-4 tall enough to fit between the top and bottom 2-by-4s for each of the studs you marked, and screw them to the studs, between the top and bottom beams, to complete the frame.
- 5). Cut your pegboard to the desired size to match your frame.
- 6). Mount the pegboard to the frame with screws. Use one screw in each corner, and screws along the top and bottom beams of the board approximately every two feet.
- 7). Insert the back ends of the hooks through the holes in the pegboard in your desired arrangement to hang your tools.
