Garden rooms are fast becoming a very popular choice for improving your home so I've compiled a list here to show you what today's modern garden rooms are being used for.

Garden Office

By far the most popular use for a garden room with many different models available on the market, these buildings come in a variety of shapes and sizes and will suit almost any type of garden or outdoor space. They come with double glazing, roof, floor and wall insulation and many suppliers can even offer under floor heating and even solar panels on the roof too. With it costing a fortune these days to fill the car up with petrol you can quickly see the benefits of working from home but not actually being in the house. Even working in your own little space in the garden feels like going to work. I should know I work in one myself.

Summerhouses

A summerhouse has a verity of uses and can even be used as a home office with a few modifications. They can be just used to store your furniture or as a relaxing place to read your paper or a book and enjoy you're surrounding without worrying about the weather. Summerhouses come in a variety of designs from Octagonal, Hexagonal, Pentagonal, Square or rectangular and a choice of different roof coverings including felt shingles, cedar tiles or thatch so there are all sorts of designs out there to suit any requirement

Hobby Room

It goes without saying that the previous designs can be used for all manner of applications but a popular use is as an artist's studio. With the addition of extra windows and maybe roof lights these buildings can be perfect for this application.

Granny Annex

If you have the room then why not considered building extra accommodation in the garden for your parents or teenage children, it will give them the independence they need but at the same time they';re not too far from home. With modifications garden rooms can be installed to building regulation standards and be a suitable space to live in all-year-round.

Utility Room

Short on space in the house then use one as a utility room to put a large chest freezer or washer and dryer, if you build it near the house then drainage can be connected easily.

Home Bar

Fed up of football on the TV all the time them let him have his own den in the garden with TV, fridge and maybe even a bar, I'm sure he'll love you even more for it and you'll love having piece and quiet and control of the remote.

I suppose the list could go on and on with the only limitation you have is probably the space to put one.

But if you enquire you'll find it's a lot cheaper than an extension and takes less time build and creates a lot less mess so perhaps it's something worth thinking about

But there's one thing for sure in the last 20 years with come a very long way from the humble garden shed.
