Living a life of salvation through christ
In this article, I would like to focus on the book of Galatians. Once we reach the peak of this article, I hope that you are able to comprehend the difference between the Mosaic Laws vs. the Spiritual Law. Once you grasp a full understanding of the true gospel of Christ, it will give you a clearer understanding of why it is detrimental to your soul following the works of religion and the world. Religion is of the world and is the work of the devil that distorts the gospel of Christ.
From the beginning of the book of Galatians, Paul tells the church that there is no other gospel than the gospel of Christ. He was upset that some of the people during that time were throwing the people of God in confusion. He was even more upset at how quick those who were said to be followers of Christ were easily manipulated into deserting the Gospel of Christ for a false gospel which according to Paul is "no Gospel at all" (Galatians 1:7). Apparently, the people that Paul addressed in the letter to Galatia did not have a full understanding of the gospel of Christ. Jesus works were not to focus on the physical law, but the eternal wellbeing of each individual believer. The physical law concentrates on human efforts. The spiritual law focuses on your eternal wellbeing.
To give you an even deeper understanding of the spiritual law we are going to go back to the book of Genesis where Cain killed Abel. (Genesis 4:8) Cain killed Abel because he was jealous of Abel. Jealousy is an act of the sinful nature. (Galatians 5:19) Cain was dealing with some eternal issues that lead him to commit such act. In Genesis 4:6, God told Cain if you do what is right, will you not be accepted? If you do not do what is right is sin crouching at your door? Was it not the sin found inside of Cain that contributed to his behavior? Today a lot of ministries focus on the Mosaic Laws more than Christ. When the church does that, it takes power away from the ministry of Christ. Christ came so that we could be saved eternally. If members of the body of Christ allow God to deal with the eternal, inner demons will be cast away. Christ's ministry was meant to save the soul from such things. The Mosaic Laws was set forth so that the people of God would know the difference between right and wrong concerning physical acts, and would later lead God's people to salvation. If the physical laws are broken, the justice system deals with the violation of each law accordingly. However, one cannot be punished physically for eternal issues unless that issue leads to an act that violates the physical law. Therefore, Christ ministry established a new order, and that order concentrates on the eternal. Before Christ, the whole world was a prisoner to sin. "The law was established to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. (Galatians 3:22-24) The physical law does not promise righteousness, but through Christ Jesus we can be saved.
Paul understood the Gospel more than some of the disciples. For example, Paul opposed Peter for leading the Jewish set which he (Peter) was responsible for spreading the gospel to astray. He was teaching them to follow Jewish customs. (Jewish Law) Galatians 1:14. Paul knew that a man was not "justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ." (Galatians 1:15) Regardless if you are a Jew or Gentile, all people were born into sin. The only way to be cleansed of that sin is through the son of God. Paul goes on to tell the Galatians:
"All who rely on observing the law is under a curse, for it is written, cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the law. Cleary no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith. The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, the man who does these things will live by them. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree. He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Holy Spirit." (Galatians 3:10)
According to Paul, we are all sons of God through Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26) Therefore, being the sons of God, he has blessed his children with the gift of the Holy Spirit in their hearts in order for the children of God to establish a full relationship with the father. When the Law was relevant, we were slaves to the law, but through Christ Jesus we are no longer slaves but sons of God. Through that, we will inherit God's kingdom. (Galatians 4:6)
"A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough". (Galatians 5:9) One of the main problems in ministry today concerning growth in the kingdom of God is that the body has been divided into denominations. This causes separation within the body of Christ. There are different types of Christian denominations that do not believe in the same doctrines or way of life. This is a problem because the body of Christ should be operated as a whole. With this division, there are different theological approaches, doctrinal beliefs, and a different understanding of faith and reason (Sweetman 6). For in Christianity, there is but one God and one Gospel. Understanding that gospel comes through understanding the ministry of Christ; for he is the head of the church. Anything outside of the principles that Christ has set forth within the Christian faith is outside the will of God.
After Christ was crucified, we were called to live life according to the Spirit. "The spirit does not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. The sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature." (Galatians 5:16-17) Those that follow the things of the sinful nature will not inherit the kingdom of God. Be mindful of the things that are of the sinful nature so that you will not be misled by the physical law. "The spiritual law stands against things that are eternal such as idolatry and witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like". (Galatians 5:19) "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law". (Galatians 22-23)
Paul warns you of those who try to make a good impression through the outer appearance. These are people who stick to religion (Mosaic Laws) in order to boast of their flesh. "The only thing that we as believers should boast of is the cross of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world". (Galatians 6:12-14) Be mindful of what you follow. Christians who boast about things of the world has not really walked into the fullness of Christ. Christ came so that we can have life and live it more abundantly. We as followers of Christ should understand that what Christ has given us is freedom, and that freedom does not consist of anything of this world. In fact, what God gives us; money cannot buy. You can have all the money in the world, and still struggle with inner demons. Those inner demons will convince you to believe that freedom lives in religion, riches, or powers of this world. None of these things has any value in the kingdom of God in heaven or here on earth. The blessings from above are love, joy peace, understanding, wisdom, life, and so forth. When believers possess such qualities, they are not far from the kingdom of God. Do not focus all of your attention on the things of this world. The same God that gives you things that money can't buy will give you things that money can buy.
"So don't worry saying what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink? Or what shall we wear? For the pagans run after these things, and your heavenly father knows that you need them. But seek first the kingdom of righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." (Matthew 6:31-34)
