    • 1). Select a year in the Gregorian (Western) calendar --- for example, 2011.

    • 2). Subtract 622 from the year chosen. Using the example of 2011, that gives you 1,389.

    • 3). Divide this number by 0.97. The answer in the example is 1,431.95. This indicates the year 1432 in the Muslim lunar calendar.
