How to Clip a Topline
- 1). Bathe the heifer to remove all dirt and oils from her coat. This will help the topline stand up.
- 2). Brush the hair from either side of the spine upward over the the center of the spine so that it forms a peak. Work from the tail of the animal until you reach the wither, where the hair changes direction; then reverse and work from the head back toward the tail.
- 3). Use a blow dryer to assist the hair in remaining upright. You may also apply some hairspray if needed.
- 4). Clip the hair along both sides of the peak you created, blending the hair length smoothly from the top into the body of the heifer.
- 5). Clip any stray hairs with scissors when you are finished.
- 6). Brush away excess clippings with a soft brush or use blow dryer to blow them away.
