Instructions for Halloween Decor

    • 1). Prepare for the celebration. Put the porch light on so these tiny guests know you are an active participant in this tradition. Keep the walkway clear and well-lighted to prevent accidental injury. Place pets in a secure spot to keep children safe.

    • 2). Create a dungeon or graveyard in your front yard. Paint large wood pieces gray and add names, birth and death date to the tombstone. Use small painted boxes as markers or graves. Put some ghosts, jack-o'-lanterns and black cats in the yard.

    • 3). Decorate your walkway. Line your walkway with solar-lighted pathway lights shaped as goblins. Insert solar ghost lights into the trees and bushes leading up to your door. Hang netting over bushes and add creepy crawlers, like spiders or bugs.

    • 4). Turn your door into a display. Tape a large sign with the message, "Happy Halloween." Hang a skeleton down the middle of the door. Set a large pumpkin containing an LED candle by the side of the door. Fill a large bucket with water and add some apples for those adventurous enough to do some bobbing.

    • 5). Make your windows pop with a 3D arrangement. Place glow-in-the-dark lighted hands on your window, with a skull mask over a plastic ball looking out the window at guests. Apply spider web net with a witch stirring her cauldron or place a large skull inside the net with random bones from a skull.

    • 6). Bring the decorations into the home. Tape orange and black streamers to the wall with Frankenstein, goblins and ghouls. Smear fake blood on mirrors and scatter white gauze around for the mummy. Add a themed tablecloth to the kitchen and make some Halloween cupcakes, decorated with orange icing and black sprinkles.
