• The balloon is a versatile instrument of decoration. In combination, balloons of varying size, shape and color offer an unlimited array of decorating possibilities for any occasion. While balloons are often used in weddings or corporate events, the flexibility of balloon decoration makes them perfectly suited to any setting where lavish, eye-catching designs are warranted. The possibilities are limited only by creativity.
  
  

Arches

• Balloon arches are a staple of weddings and offer a dramatic presence to other parties as well (See References 1 and 2). An arch may be constructed using a line of single balloons which bends over an entrance. Or, the arch may be used to create a new entrance. Large, bright balloons of the same color work best in this application. More elaborate displays are possible by spiraling balloons of different colors together in a weave style. This makes the arch larger and stronger and is better suited to outdoor displays.
  
  

Labels

• Balloons are great tools for constructing a logo, word, number or other label to identify the purpose of a party (See References 1 and 2). A vast number of balloons of the same color are attached together to make the desired shape. For example, a birthday party may utilize balloons to create an enlarged display of the recipient's age.
  
  

Columns

• Similar to an arch, a balloon column is a dramatic presence to underscore the significance of any event. By piecing same-color balloons together, or by spiraling balloons of different colors, the column is erected to compliment a grand entrance. The tops and bottoms of columns can use larger balloons to give the column a varied texture. Balloon columns are often combined with arches for particularly impressive decoration (See Reference 2).
  
  

Clothing

• Tiny balloons can be used to create a wearable tapestry that can replace conventional clothing (See Reference 1). Or, the balloon clothing can be designed to fit over the top of regular clothing. Smaller variants of this method include bracelets, hats or hairpieces constructed of balloons. With any balloon clothing design, the use of color is particularly important to keep the result interesting and festive.
  
  

Hot Air Models

• A miniature replica of a hot air balloon makes for an impressive sight on its own (See Reference 2). But hot air models can also function as a fun way to carry gifts in their little basket. Hot air is not actually used, of course, but everything else about this helium balloon structure resembles the real thing. When not used for a gift, accent the balloon with a little stuffed animal in its basket.
