    Oceanic DataMask

    • The data mask enables you to dive "hands free" without having to look at wrist- or console-mounted computers or gauges. A miniature LCD display is mounted in the right-hand side of the mask. This side of the mask also contains the proprietary Digital Optic System, microprocessor, depth transducer and wireless cylinder pressure receiver. The battery of the mask is replaceable, and the Digital Optic System provides a magnified image of the LCD so that divers can read it clearly. Information displayed on the LCD is critical dive data including: current depth, elapsed dive time, cylinder pressure and dive time remaining. The mask can be connected to a PC interface via a USB cable for uploading dive data to a log book on your PC.

    Aeris Compumask

    • The Compumask is similar in construction to the Oceanic DataMask, with a miniature LCD display mounted in the lower right-hand side of the mask. The computer components included in this area also include the Digital Optic System, microprocessor, depth transducer, wireless cylinder pressure receiver and controlling software. The battery is replaceable. Information displayed to the diver on the LCD display includes critical information such as current depth, elapsed dive time, cylinder pressure and dive time remaining. The mask can be connected to a PC interface via a USB cable for uploading dive data. The Digital Optic System gives a magnified view of the LCD so divers with varying vision capabilities can read it clearly.

    Data Transfer

    • Masks with computers mounted in them obtain data regarding the tank pressure via a wireless transmitter mounted to the high-pressure port of the diver's regulator first stage, connected to the tank. This enables the gas pressure to be measured without having to connect a hose directly from the tank to the computer, which could be inhibiting to the diver.

    Problems

    • The major problem with a computer mask is that wear and tear eventually will cause it to break down. Such problems include the skirt leaking after becoming worn; it cannot be replaced. Other defects, such as a broken mask window or a malfunctioning computer, should be returned to the manufacturer for repair.
