    • 1). Move the plane into a hanger if necessary. Hangers are not bird proof, but passing birds are less likely to investigate the plane as a potential nesting site.

    • 2). Block the entrance to the engine compartments, intakes and any other small enclosed places. Foam rubber is easy to custom cut and makes an ideal plug. Or, you may have plugs custom fit for your plane. many companies that make canopy covers also make custom-fit plugs.

    • 3). Check the plane periodically. Bird droppings, traffic, feathers and nesting debris are a sign of nesting activity. Birds are persistent and good at squeezing themselves into tight spaces. They may be able to get past the physical barriers. Or they may find even smaller cavities in the plane in which to nest. Those will have to be blocked as well. Look deep into all of the cavities with a flashlight, birds often build their nests at the backs of cavities.
