How to Fax in Your Resignation Letter
- 1). Keep your resignation letter to one page when you plan to fax it.
- 2). Add the date you are going to fax the resignation letter in the top left-hand corner of the paper.
- 3). Skip two lines after the date and head the resignation letter with your employer's name and title or the exact recipient of the resignation fax. Below the name and title, include the address of your place of work. If your place of work has a faxing policy that includes a specific type of stationary with this information already included, you can skip the heading and start straight with the greeting.
- 4). Address your employer or the recipient directly in the greeting.
- 5). Explain that you are resigning, and let your employer know faxing your resignation was your best option in the first paragraph. Also, state that the last time you were in was your last date of employment with the company, assuming you will not be returning since you're faxing the letter.
- 6). Discuss your reasons for resigning in the next paragraph to the extent that you feel comfortable. In this situation, it may be best to simply state that you are leaving for personal reasons.
- 7). Thank your employer for your time spent with the company and try to end the letter on a positive note.
- 8). Type your name after a polite closing, such as "Sincerely yours."
- 9). Print the resignation letter and sign your name beneath the closing.

Send the cover letter first and then the message using a fax machine and the company's fax number. If you do not have a fax machine, this is a service that is offered by companies like FedEx.
