More Harry Potter 6 - Just Rumors or Facts?

Rumor: Just as there was in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," there will be a death in the sixth Harry Potter book, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."
Fact: It's a fact and has been reported in newspapers all over the world. As The Edmonton Sun reported on October 9, 2004,
  • "Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling said yesterday that one of her characters will not survive the next book in her series about the young wizard - but refused to say who would die. Asked on her official website whether she planned to kill off any more characters, Rowling replied, 'Yes, sorry.'"

    Rumor: J.K. Rowling continues to put information about "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" on her official website, but you have to accomplish certain tasks to find it and it doesn't always stay online for long.
    Fact: This is true,as has been reported by numerous news media. Acording to CBBC Newsround, recently, site visitors who did well on a game of online darts were then given the chance to crack the code to unlock a safe. When the safe opened, the following passage (which has since vanished from the site) from "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" was revealed:
    • The first line said: "He looked rather like an old lion." It went on: "There were streaks of grey in his mane of tawny hair and his bushy eyebrows; he had keen yellowish eyes behind a pair of wire-rimmed spectacles and a certain rangy, loping grace even though he walked with a slight limp."

    Rumor: Harry Potter is going to die by the end of the series.
    Fact: All we know is that on August 14, 2004, J.K.

    Rowling told fans at the Edinburgh Book Festival that,
    • "He will survive to book seven, mainly because I don't want to be strangled by you lot, but I don't want to say whether he grows any older than that." (Guardian Unlimited)
    Rumor: Even though he is not the half blood prince, Voldemort is central to what happens in the last two Harry Potter books.
    Fact: Based on Rowling’s comments at the Edinburgh Book Festival on August 14, 2004, this rumor appears to be fact. BBC News reported that Rowling told fans that,
    • "She has never been asked two key questions about Voldemort which would help readers unravel the mystery of his character. Why did he survive the rebounding curse in the second book? And why didn't Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts, kill him when he had the opportunity in book five? Both answers, she said, offered major clues to books six and seven."

    Rumor: The name of Harry Potter Book Six is “Harry Potter and the Pillar of Storgé.”
    Fact: The name of Harry Potter Book Six is "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince," according to JK Rowling's website. You have to get behind the "locked door" to see it. According to an article on the CNN Money website, "The path to find the title was explained on a fan's site, WizardNews.com, and was confirmed Tuesday by her literary agent, Christopher Little Agency, which was reached in London by CNN/Money." I tried to follow the path, but I couldn't find "the doughnut thing" to click on, which leads me to believe that it may come and go.
    Rumor: The Half Blood Prince is Voldermort or Harry.
    Fact: On her website, Rowling states that the half blood prince (HBP)is neither Voldermort nor Harry. However, thus far, she hasn't said who he is.

    Rumor: There are clues about book six on JK Rowling’s new official website.
    Fact : This is not a rumor; it’s a fact. In the “News” section of her website, in a report on the progress of book six, Rowling states, "Regular visitors to this site will find information about what's in book six if they can work out where to look. Patience is the key."

    Rumor: The sixth Harry Potter book will be published in the next few months.
    Fact : This rumor circulated so widely that the BBC Newsround followed up on it and contacted JK Rowling’s agency and publishers. Representatives denied the rumor. In fact, "…a spokesperson for JK Rowling's agency, told Newsround Online: 'There is absolutely no truth in this unfounded rumour.'"
