How to Remove Yourself From a Calling List
- 1). The National Do Not Call Registry is a list of phone numbers that most companies (including "telemarketing" companies) are not permitted to call. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission governs the list.
Go to the following Web site to add a phone number to the list:
https://www.donotcall.gov/ - 2). Click "Register Now."
- 3). Enter your area code, phone number and email address. You may add up to three phone numbers at a time, including cellular phone numbers. If you have more than three numbers to add, you will need to repeat this process for each batch of three numbers.
- 4). Click "Submit."
- 5). Check your email inbox for an email from "donotcall.gov" and click on the confirmation link inside the email to confirm your submission.
- 1). Answer the phone and immediately ask who is calling and which organization the caller represents.
- 2). Get the return phone number of the organization.
- 3). Politely inform the caller that you do not wish to receive any further calls, and ask the representative to put your number on its own "do not call" list.
