Chelsea"s Fernando Torres Is Steadily Losing His Place in Villas-Boas Team.

Spanish striker and former wonder-boy, Fernando Torres is having a dismay season with the "Blues", scoring only just 3 goals in 34 appearances with Chelsea. Last Saturday night-Chelsea came to a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City for the FA Cup, 5th round- was no different for the Spanish striker: even though Torres was in the starting line-up, his disappointing performance came to a abrupt end at the start f the second half when he was substituted by Didier Drogba. This also must have cause great disappointment for Torres, since not only he was substituted by a team member who had just arrived in midweek from the Africa Cup of Nation and had only 1-2 training sessions with the "Blues", but also the presence of the African striker was inspiring, since Chelsea managed to score a goal and equalize the game.

Chelsea manager Villas-Boas tried to hide his disappointment for Torres' performances by stating; "There's competition in the striker positions and it will be a battle between (Torres, Drogba & Lukaku) them. Drogba increases the level of competition.. I think everybody is desperate for Torres to score...his confidence is low but we will have to continue to persist with our belief in his talent".

Perhaps the main reason for Torres' goalless season is primarily mental. The striker was a huge success for both Atletico Madrid and Liverpool-specially for the Reds, where he managed to score 65 goals in only 102 appearances. Indeed, just to 2 years ago, he was considered as a world class striker, however his Chelsea adventure doesn't seem to have a happy end. Rumors surfaced indicate that Chelsea is already looking for another striker, with Porto's Brazilian striker Hulk, topping the Blues list. Villas-Boas had Hulk as a player during Porto's successful campaign of 2010-11- when the Portugal team managed to win the double and the UEFA Cup. The Brazilian won't be cheap-on the contrary, thus the Blues management are likely to transfer-list Torres hopping that some of the 50.000.000 pounds that Torres has cost them, to return in the club.

Last week, Jeebboo (www.jeebboo.com) posed the following question to its members: "Fernando Torres is member of which of the following teams? A. Arsenal, B. Liverpool C. Chelsea"

As for Fernando Torres? he must have regretted his decision to leave Liverpool (where he was loved by both players and fans) in order to move to London for the Blues. If only he could turn back time...
