How to Mop Slate Floors
- 1). Select an alkaline-based natural stone cleaner to mop your slate floor.
- 2). Fill a bucket with hot water, and add the floor cleaner as indicated on the label.
- 3). Dip a soft mop into the cleaning solution, and squeeze out excess moisture. Mop the slate floor starting at the far end of the room and working toward the door.
- 4). Allow the solution to remain on the stone for 20 minutes. Wet the surface as needed if it starts to dry.
- 5). Fill a bucket with hot, clean water. Mop the slate floor to rinse off the detergent. Remove excess water with a dry mop or a towel.
- 6). Allow the slate floor to dry completely before you walk on it.
