How Homemade Burgers Were Made Hamburgers have been labelled as a junk food in certain food qualifying bodies.
This is where a clarification needs to be done.
Not all hamburgers are junk.
It can only be junk if the burger is brought from fast food chains who have stored their beef patties in freezers for years.
The healthy burgers are the Homemade Burgers.
These are healthy because they are full of nutrients, proteins and vitamins.
But, most especially, they are healthy because they are homemade and American mothers always make sure to provide the best food for their families.
There was a time when hamburgers were not considered in any way junk.
It is about time to learn how hamburgers became hamburgers.
Originally, the hamburger is a word derived from Hamburg, Germany.
There was a certain kind of steak that was very popular in Germany in the 1700s, and it was called the Hamburg Steak.
When the time came that sailors and Germans came to America, they brought this delicious dish with them.
Come 1800s, as a sign of American ingenuity, the Hamburg Steak evolved into the Hamburger.
A Texan named Fletcher Davis, who owned a restaurant named the Texan Café, offered a meal to his guests with grilled ground beef sandwiched in a bun.
This dish was called the Hamburger.
At that time, a lot of meat grinders were sold in the market because American homes would often want to keep one with them so they can make their own Homemade Burgers.
Homemade Burgers are now not only limited to beef as its meat.
Again, as a sign of American ingenuity, Americans always have a knack of spicing recipes up a bit.
Today, there are Homemade Burgers that are made of ground turkey meat, ground pork, ground chicken, ground venison, ground lamb, and there are even Homemade Burgers out there that are especially made for vegetarians.
Homemade Burgers for vegetarians are usually made of portabella mushrooms.
They taste good that one would almost not even know that they are mushrooms instead of meat.
This only proves that hamburgers are not really junk food, especially when they are homemade.
Burgers are actually very rich in nutrients and proteins because it is, or at least most of the time, made of meat.
In the past, most patties were made of left over chunks of beef.
Today, as people are becoming more health conscious, burgers, especially Homemade Burgers, are now taken from the round, chuck or sirloin of the animal.
This only makes the burgers more flavourful than the past burgers.
At the same time, people become more confident in their food because they know where they are from, unlike in the past when the patties are just made of different scraps of left over beef.
There is a reason why the hamburger is a favourite dish of most Americans.
There is nothing like a tasty grilled burger at the end of a day's work for men.
This meal is a filling meal that will leave you contented after.
It is just important to signify that Homemade Burgers will taste better than those from fast food chains, as well as they are healthier.
