How to Adjust Bike Handlebars on a Beach Cruiser

    Angle

    • 1). Locate the stem clamp bolt. This bolt is located at the point where the handlebar comes in contact with the stem, usually on the bottom of the clamp and below the bottom edge of the handlebar.

    • 2). Insert the hex key into the stem clamp bolt. Loosen the bolt by turning counterclockwise.

    • 3). Move the handlebar into the desired position. Ensure the handlebar remains evenly spaced on both sides. Tighten the stem bolt by turning the hex key clockwise.

    Height

    • 1). Locate the stem expander bolt. This bolt can be found on the stem, directly on top of where it enters the head tube.

    • 2). Insert the hex key into the stem expander bolt. Turn the hex key counterclockwise to loosen it.

    • 3). Adjust the handlebars by lowering or raising the stem. Do not raise the stem above the minimum insertion line, usually marked on the side of the stem.

    • 4). Tighten the stem expander bolt by turning the hex key clockwise. Do not completely tighten the bolt.

    • 5). Stand over the front wheel and check to see if the handlebar is perpendicular to the front wheel. If necessary, turn the handlebar left or right to straighten it. Tighten the bolt completely.
