How to Make a Witch Hat Gift Basket
- 1). Cut a large circle out of a large piece of black construction paper and then cut the circle in half so you are left with a half circle. Roll the half circle into a cone shape and staple its edges. This cone will become the pointy top of the witch's hat and the main belly of the gift bag.
- 2). Cut ½-inch slices all along the base of the cone to create fringes. This will allow you to attach the cone onto the brim of the hat once you have made it.
- 3). Trace around the edge of the base of your cone onto another sheet of large black construction paper. This will create a circle shape that is the same size as the base of your cone. Cut out the circle.
- 4). Sketch a circle around the cut-out area on the large black sheet of construction paper. The edges of the circle should lie about 2 inches away from the cut out. Cut along the line you've sketched to produce a large circle with a hole in the middle of it. This will become the brim of your witch's hat.
- 5). Spread glue around the edges of the brim's hole. Place the cone with its fringes folded out on top of the hole so that the fringes stick to the glue. Hold the cone onto the brim until the glue dries and it is securely attached. The witch's hat now has its point and its brim.
- 6). Cut out two strips of black construction paper, 1-by-16 inches. Staple one end of one of the strips onto the front left side of the brim on the underside of the hat. Staple the other end of the strip onto the back left side of the brim on the underside of the hat. Staple one end of the second strip to the front right side of the brim on the underside of the hat. Staple the other end of the strip to the back right side of the brim on the underside of the hat. The hat now has two handles and can be used as a gift bag. To make the gift basket appear a bit fancy, use black ribbon for handles instead of black construction paper.
