    • Prednisone can make a person experience nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or cramps, as well as a feeling of being bloated.

    Other Side Effects

    • Prednisone may increase sweat production, bring about a change in body fat, or cause a person to be lightheaded, feel dizzy or experience a constant spinning sensation.

    Long-Term Side Effects

    • People who are required to use prednisone over an extended period of time may suffer from increased weight gain due to fluid retention; a decrease in muscle mass; acne; stretch marks; and potentially the development of osteoporosis.

    Serious Side Effects

    • If you experience any increase in blood pressure or note the presence of infections, hallucinations or extreme fluid retention, report it immediately to your health-care provider.

    Allergic Reaction

    • If you experience any sudden rash or hives, swollen tongue, or the feeling of your throat being closed, contact your health-care provider immediately, as this might be a sign of an allergic reaction to the medication.
