    • 1). Pre-treat the permanent marker stain before putting the jacket in the washing machine.

    • 2). Lay the jacket flat on a table with the permanent marker stain facing up.

    • 3). Dampen the stained area with hairspray, nail polish remover or WD-40. Make sure the entire inked part is moistened.

    • 4). Cover the stained area with a folded up, clean, dry cloth. Push down on the cloth with your palms, applying firm pressure. Hold the pressure for 30 seconds. You will see the permanent marker start to fade.

    • 5). Remove the cloth and re-dampen the area. You will see the permanent marker continuing to fade.

    • 6). Blot (don't rub) the area with the cloth.

    • 7). Repeat this process until the ink has disappeared.

    • 8). Clean the jacket to remove the residue of the hairspray, nail polish remover or WD-40. Wash the jacket in the washing machine if it is fabric. Use cold or lukewarm water and your regular laundry soap. Clean the treated area of the jacket with leather cleaner if the jacket is leather.
