Bander Family Fund for Independent Projects

    • This award gives $4,000 for up to two undergraduates in the arts and sciences who wish to pursue a summer project in their field, says the Johns Hopkins Office of Academic Advising website. Students should do the project independently, the website says, working on a research or creative project or a self-directed internship.

    Bloomberg Scholarships

    • The Bloomberg scholarship is a need-based award, and according to the Johns Hopkins Need-Based Scholarships website, it covers costs of tuition and can be renewed for up to three years, contingent upon need. Funds from the scholarship come from the donation of an alumnus who was an engineering major, according to the website

Charles W. Westgate Scholarships in Engineering

    • This merit-based scholarship covers full tuition and provides a stipend for living expenses for four years of undergraduate study, the Johns Hopkins Merit-Based Scholarship website says. Incoming freshmen who plan to major in engineering may apply. Applicants must be enrolled in the G. W. C. Whiting School of Engineering for the duration of the scholarship, and maintain at least a 3.0, according to the website. There is no need to apply; rather, a scholarship committee will choose them based on academics, leadership experience and other achievements in high school.

    Hodson-Gilliam Success Scholarship

    • The Hodson-Gilliam Success Scholarship goes to incoming minority freshmen who have demonstrated academic excellence, says the Johns Hopkins Need-Based Scholarships website. The amount of the award will be determined by the amount of the student's loan, which it will replace, says the website.

    Hodson Trust Scholarship

    • A merit-based scholarship, the Hodson Trust award gives $26,500 annually to up to 20 freshmen, says Johns Hopkins' Merit-Based Scholarships website. Incoming freshmen will receive consideration without applying for the award, says the website.

    Matching Funds

    • Johns Hopkins also matches funds from grants that its students receive through the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant, says the Johns Hopkins Need-Based Scholarships website. Since many scholarships are highly competitive, the university encourages students to apply for as many as possible.
