    • 1). Pour the measured amount of water, stock or other liquid into the cooker as listed on the recipe. If the listed recipe doesn't specify an exact amount, fill the cooker up about halfway.

    • 2). Add all other ingredients required by the recipe to the cooker and close its top. Set the top on the cooker with the top's handle slightly to the right of the cooker handle, then slide the cover to the left until it locks into place.

    • 3). Put the pressure cooker on the stove and heat it on high until it starts to slowly release steam. It is also fine to put the cooker on the stove before closing the top, particularly when sauteing food before adding liquid.

    • 4). Move the pressure cooker to another stove element once it has finished cooking and wait several minutes until there is no more steam dissipating from the safety valves.

    • 5). Move the cooker to the sink once the pressure has dissipated and run cold water over it. You can remove the top of the lid after a few minutes. Release the top by sliding the latch on the handle forward and twisting the top handle to the right.
