The Cherry Creek neighborhood is named after the meandering Cherry Creek, which has bike paths and running trails alongside its banks. The neighborhood falls between University Street to the west and Colorado Boulevard to the east. Bounded by 6th Avenue to the north and Alameda Avenue to the south, the neighborhood also hosts Denver's most prestigious shopping center, Cherry Creek Mall.

Demographics:

According to 2011 data from City-Data.com, Cherry Creek was home to 5,524 residents. The exclusive neighborhood proves one of Denver's most expensive places to live. The average estimated value of detached homes was $991,272 in 2011, while $1,197 covered the median rent for 2011. The median household income for Cherry Creek was $132,228 in 2011, nearly three times the median of $47,371 for the City & County of Denver.

Married couples made up 30.6% of households in Cherry Creek in 2011, with 45.8% married couples with children in 2011. The median age of Cherry Creek residents was 49.4 years for men and 53.5 years for women, more than a decade older than the median age for the entire City & County of Denver.

Restaurants:

Cherry Creek North, a collection of shops north of the mall, contains several restaurants and boutiques.

    Cherry Creek has several local schools in the neighborhood, although Denver Public Schools allows students to pick the schools they want to attend. The Cherry Creek school district is part of Arapahoe County, and is not affiliated with the Cherry Creek neighborhood.
    • Cherry Creek students either attend East High at 1545 Detroit St. or South High at 1700 E. Louisiana Blvd.
    • Morey Middle School at 840 E. 14th Ave. serves grades 6-8.
    • Bromwell Elementary at 2500 E. 4th Ave. offers classes for K - 5.

    Grocery Stores, Etc.:
    • Whole Foods Market at 2375 E. 1st Ave. sells organic groceries and gourmet food.
    • Wells Fargo has a branch with a 24-hour ATM at 2500 E. 2nd St.

    Trivia:
    • William Green Russell discovered gold at the confluence of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River in 1858, which led to the establishment of Denver.
    • Hundreds of thousands of visitors attend the Cherry Creek Arts Festival held over the Fourth of July weekend every year.
    • Another body of water named Cherry Creek, a tributary of the Cheyenne River in South Dakota, does not have as many fancy restaurants.
