If you want to know how to cure your GERD, it is best to consider a holistic approach to treating it.
And one common area that needs to be given targeted attention and action to is your food intake.
As true as the saying goes, "What you eat determines who you are" - think back at the times prior to your diagnosis of GERD.
What constituted your normal diet? What were your favorite foods, and how often do you go about consuming them? If you are under medication right now, it would best help to avoid certain foods such as: 1.
Pork
- aside from the fact that pork is highly acidic, research has found that bacteria in pork tend to survive longer in humans than those bacteria found in poultry.
Scientists have also found high levels of Enterococci bacteria, that is antibiotic resistant - and for patients who have such an infection, have a death rate of 37 percent.
you simply do not need another possible handicap while treating your GERD or Acid Reflux.
2.
Shrimp
- this seafood delicacy has been one of my favorites, and it was one of my favorite foods until I had to temporarily fore go from this edible treat, because of its acidic content, as well as very high in cholesterol.
Again, the point of the issue why you should avoid foods is to avoid any further complications that your body might develop.
Isolate your present condition and treat it with the best possible medication.
3.
Cakes (all types)
- high in sugar, and if it's sugar free, high in other acidic ingredients that aggravate your GERD.
I had to deal with this reality the hard way, when people give me this kind of food as a gift on my birthday, or other special occasions, I just let my family have it.
It's best to "go natural" in your food intake, during treatment.
If however, you notice little or no improvement from your traditional medication, then it might be best to consider searching for other options on how to naturally cure GERD or heartburn, as was in my case.
Right now, I'm back to moderately eating all three foods listed above (except pork).
But it took me painful discipline in those months of treatment along with other natural methods, in order to gain control of my digestive problem.
