Causes and Treatments For Peyronie"s Disease

The Peyronie's condition is a very old problem, and it most likely has been around since the dawn of mankind.
Like other intimacy problems such as erectile dysfunction, the condition was never spoken about for a long time, so men tried to hide it from everyone, including themselves.
Throughout the ages, people have largely frowned on intimacy problems as no one really understood illnesses and their causes, so easy to see why no one wanted to bring up the topic.
Where It Came From The first person to diagnose and attempt to treat the disease was the surgeon De la Peyronie in 1743, who was also one of the founders of the Royal Academy of Surgery in France.
Unfortunately, 250 years have passed and we are still no closer to finding the true cause of Peyronie's than De la Peyronie himself was back in 1743.
Common Causes of Peyronie's Condition Today, most doctors will agree that the Peyroni'es condition is caused by microsopic trauma to thin layer of the penis during rough intercourse.
This lining, called the Tunica Albuginea (see diagram in our article here) is not rich in blood vessels so it can be ruptured and heal back abnormally.
Consistent trauma and poor healing can lead to the formation of a protein rich plaque that causes blood to clot and harden.
Sometimes referred to as a "dead tissue", the buildup can become dull without feeling after the plaque fully hardens.
This hardened plaque prevents the penis from expanding on one side or another and is what causes the characteristic bend.
Alternative Treatments To Surgery While there are several surgical procedures to lessen the effects of the Peyronie's condition, the only non-surgical way to reduce the plaque is to stretch the penis so the plaque can be broken up and reduced by the body's own processes.
This can be done by using a traction device, which is a promising natural treatment that has already been successfully tested and found to reduce penile curvature.
A traction device is a newer technique but several scientific studies have shown it can straighten the penis and remove the plaque that causes the penis to bend a certain way.
