How to Build a Raccoon Cage

104 1
    • 1). Create a rectangular box by cutting the 2x4s to make the desired size of your cage. Your cage should be at least twice the height and length of the raccoon who will temporarily be occupying it. Screw the cut 2x4 pieces together using non-toxic screws to create a rectangular, three dimensional frame.

    • 2). Cut strong plywood to fit over the bottom of your rectangle, creating a floor for the cage. Lay the plywood over the bottom of your rectangle and screw it down.

    • 3). Cut another piece of plywood to fit over one of the walls. Cut a square hole into it, which will act as the cage door. Make the door by attaching two small hinges. Attach a simple sliding metal lock onto the door opposite from the hinges to keep the cage door locked.

    • 4). Screw the wooden wall into place. Affix a fine, non-toxic metal mesh (but not chicken wire) around the rest of the rectangular frame using screws and a screwdriver or a staple gun. Be sure there are no exposed sharp metal edges that could harm the raccoon before placing it inside.
