    Clothing

    • Mix 1 cup cool water and 1/2 cup white vinegar in a small bowl. Gently rub the stained area and allow your garment to soak for 10 minutes. Gently wring the garment to remove excess water, pour a drop of mild laundry detergent onto the area, and wash it at the highest temperature suitable for the fabric. You can also pour 1 to 2 drops of hydrogen peroxide onto the stain before throwing the garment into the washer.

    Upholstery

    • According to Good Housekeeping, mix 1 tbsp. dishwashing liquid with 2 cups cool water in a small bowl. Dip a clean cloth into the bowl and sponge the stain until damp but not soaked. Use another clean cloth to dab the stain until the moisture is absorbed. Sprinkle the spot with 1 tsp. baking soda and allow it to sit overnight. Vacuum or brush off the baking soda the next day.

    Carpet

    • Carpet cleaning requires mixing 1 tbsp. dishwashing liquid and 1 tbsp. white vinegar with 2 cups warm water in a bowl or bucket. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and sponge the stain to saturate the area, according to Good Housekeeping. Use a dry, clean cloth to remove excess moisture, sprinkle the area with baking soda and leave it on overnight. The following day, vacuum the baking soda from the carpet and use a damp cloth to remove remaining residue.
