Tips for Jewelry Parties at Home

    Ambiance

    • A productive and profitable jewelry party encourages a relaxed atmosphere. Sometimes a quiet space makes people uncomfortable. The remedy for this is to play instrumental music in the background on a very low setting; to the point where it's almost unnoticeable. This will eliminate potential moments where "you could hear a pin drop." Keeping your home friendly and inviting is another way to keep the key focus on jewelry. Fixing up your house for your jewelry party will have guests marveling at your style, flair and creativity instead of making purchases.

    Jewelry Display

    • There are numerous ways to display jewelry. No matter what method you choose, it is imperative that your display be complete before guests arrive. This will maximize their time in viewing, making decisions and finalizing a purchase. Decide in advance whether you need to use your table of if the hostess has one that will suffice. Purchase silky or velvety raiment pieces to cover tables and use with jewelry displays. Solid colors work better to showcase jewelry. Have as many mirrors on hand as possible for guests to view jewelry at work.

    Games

    • Make guests play games without them even knowing it. Party-goers often feel uncomfortable when games begin. Play games where voluntary participation isn't required. Begin with "Color of the Night". Determine a winning color such as purple, for example. Have everyone stand and select a color, like black. Have anyone who is visibly wearing black have a seat. Continue with varying colors until only a few are standing. The person who wins will be the one wearing the most purple. Make sure to have a prize for the winner. You can use any topic or category to play this game and make up other games of your own.

    Convenient Purchases

    • Depending on the type of jewelry party offered, the most successful jewelry parties are those where customers can leave with their purchases. Placing orders is common and typical for many types of jewelry sold but orders are greater and sales are higher when customers have something to show for their money. Consider offering a portion of jewelry for automatic purchase; such as discontinued jewelry or jewelry used for display. Replace display sales by re-ordering with customer orders.

    Talk to Customers

    • Customers will buy from someone they feel comfortable with; however, there's a fine line between being approachable and overbearing. Keep it friendly and inviting by giving guests plenty of time to talk or ask questions. Do not expect the host or hostess to control the party. Treat the party as if it were your jewelry store; you are the store manager, you are in charge. Be sure to share answers to the most frequently asked questions before they're asked.

    Refreshments

    • A jewelry party is about selling and showcasing jewelry. Keep the same concept in regards to refreshments as party decor--keep it simple. Especially if the hostess receives credits or bonuses for guests that elect to have a party. Guests are more likely to host a party of their own when they see the success in simple preparations.
