Types

• There are several types of products to remove paint from concrete, including sandblasters, shotblasters, floor grinders, pressure washers and chemical strippers.
  
  

Effects

• All of the products will remove paint from cement, but do so in different ways. Use more abrasive techniques for harder to remove paint and more gentle methods for already flaking paint.
  
  

Considerations

• Sandblasters, shotblasters and floor grinders will remove not only the paint but also some of the concrete itself and are likely to leave scars, so only use these products if you're not concerned with that or are going to lay down a cementitious topping. Pressure washers are best for flaking paint and outdoor use. Chemical strippers work on most paints, except epoxies.
