How to Reuse Newspaper Bags
- 1). Pick up pet waste with a newspaper bag. Put one or two bags over one hand. Pick up the pet waste, turn the bag inside out with your other hand, and tie the bag in a knot.
- 2). Place a shoe, shampoo, or lotion bottle in a newspaper bag before packing it in a suitcase. If the item you are packing contains liquid, tie the bag in a knot.
- 3). Place a wet umbrella inside a newspaper bag before putting it in a purse or bag. The umbrella should be closed before placing it in the newspaper bag.
- 4). Use a newspaper bag as a trash bag for purse or backpack. Keep rolled up newspaper bags in your purse or backpack to always have a new trash bag on hand.
- 1). Cover baby plants to with newspaper bags protect them from frost. Bring out the bags at dusk and remove them at dawn to prevent plants from becoming too warm.
- 2). Knit crafts out of newspaper bags. Cut newspaper bags into thin plastic strips. Tie the strips together, forming a ball of plastic yarn. Knit this yarn into a bag, place mat, or bathmat.
- 3). Line packing boxes with newspaper bags for padding. Stuff newspaper bags between items, and wrap each small item several times with newspaper bags.
- 4). Call your paper carrier and ask if they would like newspaper bags back. Some newspaper carriers will accept newspaper bags and reuse them.
- 5). Check with your local grocery store to see if they recycle plastic bags. Many grocery stores have recycling bins for plastic bags, and some stores accept newspaper bags.
