How to Gut a Pumpkin
- 1). Cut the top off the pumpkin, cutting around the stem with a sharp knife. Cut all the way through the flesh so you can pull the top off, like pulling the plug out of a tub.
- 2). Put on a pair of rubber gloves to protect your hands, as the insides of the pumpkin can sometimes stain your skin orange.
- 3). Reach into the pumpkin, and pull out all of the pulp and seeds you can. Continue scooping out the insides, and dump the guts into a bowl.
- 4). Scrape your hands along the sides of the pumpkin to pick away any leftover pulp still stuck to the flesh there. You can use a spoon, too, to gently scrap the inside. Discard this excess pulp into the bowl.
