    • 1). Mix the cement, peat moss and vermiculite together with the trowel in the wheelbarrow. Add water and stir until the mixture is the texture of pudding.

    • 2). Dump the play sand in a pile. Scoop out a cavity with a rounded bottom for a sand-cast birdbath mold.

    • 3). Trowel the hypertufa mixture into the sand cavity. Smooth the mixture into a birdbath form with a wall thickness of 2 inches.Press three evenly spaced 1-inch notches in the top edge of the birdbath with your finger.

    • 4). Let the concrete birdbath dry and cure for four days. Remove the birdbath from the sand and use a stiff brush to remove loose sand from the concrete.

    • 5). Cut the roping into three 1-yard lengths with the scissors. Gather the lengths of all three pieces of rope and connect them to each other with overhand knots at both ends. Make an overhand knot by looping all three pieces of rope into a 4-inch wide circle, inserting the rope ends into the circle and pulling the circle tightly closed.

    • 6). Slip the birdbath into the knotted ropes, centering one knotted end at the bottom of the birdbath. Slide the ropes around the bottom of the birdbath and place the ropes in the notches for stability. Slip the opposite knotted end over a tree branch.
