Brady Pub
Caroline approaches Will and notes that he has a table set for two. She questions if he got stood up. Will says not exactly and refers to girls as “very weird.”
Just outside, Mia flashes back to handing over her baby to Nicole. She comes back to reality and didn’t know how badly she would want to hold her baby.
Will reenters the pub and tells Caroline that the girl, Mia, is gone. He recalls how Mia kept asking questions about him and his family, but she never talked about herself, which is unusual for girls.
Caroline encourages him to call the girl, asking if he has her number. Will says he doesn’t even know her name. Caroline notes his lack of enthusiasm and questions how he and Lucas are getting along. Will claims that he and his dad are good and reveals that Lucas is in Vegas getting married again. Caroline questions how he feels about his dad marrying Chloe. Will believes it’s none of his business and claims it’s no big deal. Caroline asks how he’s getting along with his mom. Will shakes his head and Caroline wonders if he and Sami had a fight. “It’s hard to fight with someone who’s never around,” he replies. He notes how Sami always seems to be thinking of someone else and surmises that she’s in trouble again.
St. Luke’s
The christening takes place as Father Matt requests for Nicole to hand Sydney to her godparents. Father Matt asks Lexie if she’s prepared to help Elvis and Nicole in their duty as Christian parents. She says yes. He poses the same question to Tony, who gives Nicole a menacing look.
Nicole flashes back to Tony confronting her out in the vestibule. Tony asks Father Matt to repeat the question. He looks at Nicole and says he’s ready to do whatever is necessary. Nicole faints in E.J.’s arms.
Nicole sits in the chair and Lexie approaches her. Tony notes that Nicole’s color is awful and suggests that she get a complete physical. Nicole claims she’s fine and just not getting a lot of sleep. Sami takes Sydney from Tony, which makes Nicole more agitated. Lexie encourages Nicole to go to the hospital, but she refuses.
E.J. sits with Nicole and encourages her to go to the hospital. Stefano sides with E.J. Nicole claims she’s going to scream if one more of E.J.’s family members tell her what she should or should not do, pointing out that “her” daughter isn’t christened. Nicole takes Sydney back from Sami and requests to proceed with the ceremony. Father Matt requests for Nicole to hand Sydney back to the godmother. He traces the sign of the cross on her forehead and invites Sydney’s parents and godparents to do the same. “Oh, she’ll be safe now, won’t she Nicole?” taunts Tony. Lexie’s phone rings and she apologizes, insisting that she needs to call the hospital. Tony looks at Nicole and wonders what else could go wrong.
Mia arrives at the church and kneels down to pray, admitting that she hasn’t been to church in a really long time. She hopes to stop thinking about the worst mistake she’s made in her life, then soon lights a candle.
Lexie comes out in the vestibule and runs into Mia, who wonders what’s going on in the church. Lexie reveals that it’s a christening, then excuses herself. Mia opens the door and smiles upon seeing Sydney. Father Matt continues the ceremony as Mia watches. Sami gets upset and heads into the vestibule. Mia asks if she’s okay. Sami claims she was just a little emotional from the ceremony. Mia refers to the baby as beautiful. Sami admits that she has three children of her own, but refers to Sydney as the most beautiful baby she’s ever seen.
Father Matt declares that Sydney is to receive the gift of new life from God. He tells E.J. and Nicole that they must make it their constant care to bring Sydney up in the practice of the faith. Nicole silently prays to God not to take Sydney away from her. Father Matt asks the group if they reject sin, so as to live in the freedom of God’s children. “I do,” they respond.
Sami lights a candle in the other room as Father Matt christens Sydney. The group says the Lord’s Prayer and Sami insists that she needs to get out of there and shouldn’t have even come.
Convent of the Holy Cross
Rafe holds Grace and notes that she doesn’t seem real happy today. Sister Theresa believes it’s due to the rash, but Rafe thinks it’s because she misses her mother.
Sister Theresa later suggests to Rafe that it’s dangerous for the biological father not to know about the existence of his child, warning that he has a lot of legal clout once he finds out. “Well, that’s why we have to make sure that he never does, for Grace’s sake and for her mother’s,” suggests Rafe. He refers to the DiMeras as arrogant with the way they shove people around and vows not to let them ruin Sami or Grace’s lives.
Sister Theresa tells Rafe that he reminds her of Saint Joseph. Rafe jokes how he hears that all the time. She reveals that Saint Joseph took care of a woman and her baby. She admits that when she prays for him, she prays to Saint Joseph, predicting that Rafe is heading into some pretty dangerous waters. Rafe believes she should be praying for Sami. He wonders where she is, since she’s not answering her phone. He holds Grace, then decides to get going. After he leaves, Sister Theresa prays for Saint Joseph to look out for Rafe. She later holds a crying Grace.
DiMera Mansion
E.J., Nicole, Stefano, Tony, and Lexie all arrive back at the mansion after the christening, where Stefano jokes about putting Sydney in a tower or convent to keep her safe. Stefano asks Nicole if she’s sure she’s okay. Nicole wishes everyone would stop asking her that. Tony tries to torment Nicole by asking what the name of the movie was when the godfather renounced Satan and at the same time mowed down his enemies with machine guns. E.J. sarcastically thanks Tony for bringing such joy to their day. Tony proposes a toast and Lexie asks Nicole if she’s alright, noting that she still seems pale. Nicole claims she feels much better and declines a sparkling water from Tony. Tony proposes a toast to Sydney Ann, then proposes a toast to Nicole for everything she’s gone through to bring them a little miracle.
