Things to Do to Prepare For a Photoshoot

Getting ready for your photoshoot, especially when you are hiring a photographer is important to ensure good results.
Here are some recommended steps for your consideration: 1.
Source for the right photographer
- You need to know if your photographer you are hiring has the expertise in the area that you are looking for.
Many freelance photographers specialize in only 1 or 2 areas, such as wedding shoots or personal portfolios.
Ask around for recommendations.
You can also approach the photographer or the service provider for their works.
Normally, a visit to their website can give you an indication but until you try them, you will never know.
It is also important for you to be able to accept their shooting styles.
What your friends like might not apply to you, which brings this to point 2.
2.
Getting to know your photographer
- Spend some time, about 30 min or so will do, to talk things over with your photographer.
Get to know his shooting style and ask him to brief you on the shoot essentials.
Feel free to share with him any of your ideas if you plan to inject your personal touch.
Provide more of your background and personality that you want him to draw out during the shoot.
This will help him plan his shoot to create the intended results.
3.
Select your outfits
- You might want to choose your outfits to match the theme of your shoot.
From shooting for a music album, personal portfolio for your resume to important events such as bridal shoots, your outfit can make an impact on the outcome and feel of the pictures.
To a certain extent the location and background chosen should complement the theme too.
Take time to think this through or discuss with your photographer for suggestions.
However if you are not too particular, then you need not spend too much time on this area.
4.
Make-up and Hair
- There are 3 ways to do this.
You can either choose your makeover done by your own stylist; by the stylist provided in the package or simply by yourself.
If you are doing it by yourself then here are some tips.
Make-up: Bring your own make-up supplies for touch-ups.
Sorting out your contouring or base items will speed things along during the shoot.
Hair: Come to the shoot with your hair ready for the first look.
AVOID getting it cut just before your shoot in case it doesn't turn out right.
If you hair is dry, go for a conditioning treatment.
Have your roots done or touch up the colours if you colour your hair.
5.
Charges and Payment
- While it is practical to look around for the lowest price package, it is more important that your photographer can deliver the intended results.
Packages that are too low to be true may have hidden costs.
On the other hand an exorbitant package may not meet your shooting requirements.
The bottomline is that you must be comfortable with what you are getting for the amount you are paying.
6.
Resting before the
photo shoot - Relax and get a good night's sleep.
It puts you in a good mood which is the best way to ensure that you would have stunning photos.
Avoid drinking too much water just before you sleep.
