Two elevated infinity pools add to the elegance of the outdoor spaces. The hotel has several world-class restaurants and bars. Nightly room rates in the low season range from $220 for a city view to $6,500 for the penthouse. Delano Hotel

• The Delano, an oceanfront hotel built in 1995, was completely refurbished in 2006. It is known for its all white décor and its lobby that blends the indoors and the outdoors. An international collection of furniture decorates the lobby and rooms. The pool area is billed as a "water salon," with calm, underwater music and separate areas devoted to floating and meditating. Known as "The Orchard," the outdoor lawn space is filled with eclectic items such as an oversized chessboard. Off-season nightly rates range from $315 to $3,000.

The Raleigh

• The Raleigh, an Art Deco hotel first built in 1940, has undergone several face-lifts through the years but still keeps its Art Deco roots. The pool is vintage, made famous by Esther Williams. It is surrounded by a spectacular patio and bar. The Oasis, a tranquil spot between the pool and the beach, is decked out with hammocks, chic cabanas and beach chairs.
