There has been much speculation and issues with the prescribed medication Actos. Actos is a medication that has been prescribed for illnesses like type 2 diabetes. Actos can be prescribed for many other reason that a medical provider decides. It is not limited to that illness. Medical professionals and the FDA have determined that Actos can be a risk to those who are on it and have a history of bladder cancer. Problems with Actos have caused many issues and lawsuits across the globe. One of the main issues with it is that it makes people 40% more at risk of Bladder Cancer then they were prior to taking the medication. It has been known to physicians that those who take Actos and have been on it the longest are more susceptible to that 40% risk. That has been enough of an issue to have a FDA recall on the drug. Actos helps regulate the low blood sugar levels for people who have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Actos claims that with a proper diet and exercise routine it can be a resolution to those people who have type 2 diabetes and are sensitive to insulin. Actos problems can be anything from a major side effect or illness to something very small like nausea. Actos has been known to have some of the following side effects. Below are some common side effects of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar):
  • Shakiness
  • Dizziness
  • Lightheaded
  • Sweating
  • Nervousness
  • Headaches
  • Numbness or Tingling  Around the Mouth
  • Weakness
  • Pale Skin
  • Hunger
  • Jerky Movements

More serious symptoms that need immediate attention from your medical provider regarding hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) that go untreated are:
  • Confusion
  • Loss of Consciousness
  • Seizure

If you are having common symptoms of hyperclycemia (high blood sugar) contact your doctor or medical professional immediately:
  • Extreme Thirst
  • Frequent Urination
  • Extreme Hunger
  • Weakness
  • Blurred Vision

If they go untreated, a life threatening condition called "Diabetic Ketoacidosis" can develop. If any of the symptoms below occur and worse seek medical attention immediately:
  • Dry Mouth
  • Upset Stomach and Vomiting
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Breath That Smells Fruity
  • Decreased Consciouness
