Check the computer's system information. The most important piece of information to check is whether or not the computer is using a 32 or 64 bit processor. Most software developed for 32-bit processors will not work on a 64-bit platform. This information can be accessed by either right-clicking on the computer icon and selecting properties or by accessing system information through the control panel. - 2). Write down the system information. This includes operating system, processor type, memory or RAM and hard-drive space. Hoyle games software does not require a sophisticated graphics or sound card, so this information is not needed.
- 3). Check the software requirements needed to run the game. This information is printed on the side of the software package or in the game's instruction manual. Check whether or not the software is designed for a 32 or 64-bit processor. Compare the operating system, processor, RAM and memory requirements with the written list.

Run the software as the administrator. If installing on a computer with multiple users, the administrator is the only user authorized to install new software. To run the software as the administrator, log on to the computer as the administrator or right click on the program and select "Run as Administrator." - 5). Clean up the hard drive. Computers become clogged with unwanted files and programs running in the background that use RAM. The less RAM available, the slower a gaming program will work. Use the Disk Cleanup option. This program can be accessed by clicking on the program menu and selecting accessories. Choose system tools and click on "Disk Cleanup." The process can take up to 45 minutes, but will leave the computer running better.
- 6). Shut down unnecessary programs. Other programs are going to use their share of available RAM. If there are programs running while using the Hoyle program, the gaming software might not have enough RAM to operate smoothly.
