    Musical Timeline

    • Choose cherished songs from the years of your relationship to play at your anniversary celebration. Begin with a song from the year you met, or perhaps a special song was playing on your first date. Choose a song from every year of your relationship, using either songs that are special to the two of you or a song that was popular that particular year. Include your wedding song as well as any songs that have been significant during your courtship and marriage.

    Classic Love Songs

    • You can't go wrong with classic love songs such as Tony Bennett's "The Way You Look Tonight," Percy Sledge's "When a Man Loves a Woman" or Elvis Presley's "I Can't Help Falling in Love With You." Choose a variety of classic love songs to play at your anniversary, either the original artists' recordings or instrumental versions of the songs. Artists such as Barry Manilow have recorded collections of songs, including remakes of classic love songs.

    Duets

    • An anniversary is a celebration of two people -- a couple. Love songs sung or recorded by duets are a perfect complement to an anniversary celebration. "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love," by Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack is a favorite duet love song. Others include "Endless Love," by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross, "(I've Had) the Time of My Life," by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes and "Baby, Come to Me" by James Ingram and Patti Austin.

    Show Tunes and Movie Hits

    • Broadway shows have produced some award-winning hits, many of which are romantic love songs. Choose songs from classic productions like "Beauty and the Beast," "Romeo and Juliet," "Phantom of the Opera" and "West Side Story."

For movie lovers, the choices are plentiful. Movies spanning all genres have generated love songs that make appropriate music for an anniversary celebration. The "Grease" hit "You're the One That I Want"; "My Heart Will Go On," a love song from the movie "Titantic"; and "Unchained Melody" from the movie "Ghost" are all well-known love songs that originated in a movie.
