Removing Oil Stains From Vinyl Flooring

  • 1). Lay paper towels over the stain to soak up the oil substance on the floor. Discard the soiled paper towels.

  • 2). Pour baking soda over the remaining oil stain on your vinyl floor. Leave the baking soda in place for 10 to 20 minutes to absorb the oil. Remove the baking soda by sweeping it up with a broom and dustpan.

  • 3). Mix 2 cups of warm water and 2 cups of white vinegar in a bucket. Wet a floor mop in the diluted vinegar solution. Wring out any excess moisture so the mop is merely damp.

  • 4). Mop the vinyl floor at the site of the oil stain. The vinegar helps remove any remaining oil residue while safely cleaning the vinyl.

  • 5). Dry the flooring with a clean cloth.
