Lavender and Tea Tree Oil to Clean Windows and Kitchen Cabinets
- Tea tree oil is an excellent choice for a homemade, green cleaning product. Tea tree oil is a natural fungicide, and also kills germs and bacteria, according to the website Care2.com. Lavender oil can be used to fragrance household cleaners, suggests the Christian Broadcasting Network. Lavender is said to naturally help soothe the nerves.
- To create an all-purpose cleaner for removing stains, disinfecting, and cleaning kitchen cabinets, mix 2 cups of water, 3 tablespoons of liquid soap, and 20 to 30 drops of tea tree oil. Add 5 to 10 drops of lavender oil to fragrance the cleaner.
- Before cleaning the windows with the all-purpose cleaner, test a small portion of the window. Essential oils may cause streaks to develop on glass. If streaks develop, fill a spray bottle half full of white vinegar. Add 5 to 10 drops of tea tree oil, and fill the remainder of the bottle with water. Use this mixture to wash your windows.
