How to Siphon Oil
- 1). Stand on a chair (if needed) so that your mouth is well above the container you need to siphon the oil from. Insert one end of the hose to the bottom of the oil container. Place an empty container with the same or greater holding capacity below the container you need to siphon from.
- 2). Suck on the free end of the hose carefully until the oil is about a foot from your mouth. Maintain the suction and carefully bend over so the hose starts to droop over the end of the oil container.
- 3). Release the suction slowly. The oil will start to go back to the oil container once the suction is released. Before the oil you had suctioned up goes back completely into the oil container, stick the end that was in your mouth into the empty container. Gravity will take over from here and the oil will flow freely from the original oil container into the empty one. It will continue until the original container is empty, assuming you put the hose all the way to the bottom of the original container.
- 4). Stop the flow if you don't want to completely drain the oil from the first container by simply lifting the end of the hose that is in the container your are siphoning into. Make sure to lift that end above the height of the original oil container.
