How to Make a Double-Sided Lightsaber
- 1). Round the ends of the dowel rod with sandpaper.
- 2). Spray paint the entire dowel rod, including the ends, the color of the blade. For example, if you want to make a Sith lightsaber like Darth Maul's, paint the entire rod red. The paint needs to dry before you continue.
- 3). Mold the Model Magic around the middle of the lightsaber. This makes the hilt. Make the hilt as large as you want it. Because it's a two- bladed lightsaber, you will need room on the hilt for both of your hands to fit comfortably. Let the hilt sit to dry on the lightsaber for 24 hours.
- 4). While the hilt is drying, mold the buttons and switches of the lightsaber hilt out of Model Magic. You need a round or rectangular activation switch, a round dial shape to adjust the blade intensity and a button for turning on only one blade, according to "How to Make a Lightsaber Prop." Let these pieces also dry for 24 hours.
- 5). Paint the dry hilt silver or gray. Paint the buttons and knobs any color you want. Leave them out to dry for four to five hours.
- 6). Paint black strips over the hilt to represent grips. Wait for the paint to dry before continuing.
- 7). Apply super glue to the back of the knobs and buttons and press them place. The super glue dries quickly. The lightsaber is complete.
