Job Duties

• The main job duty is to research corporate and non-profit grant funding organizations that support mental health projects. Grant writers also write grant requests according to stringent and complex guidelines, track grant request statuses and follow up on their progress.
  
  

Skill Requirements

• One of the required skills is writing in a concise and persuasive manner. Meeting deadlines is also a job requirement. If questions arise during the review process, the grant writer needs good oral communication skills to answer them completely and clearly.
  
  

Preferred Background

• At least two years of successful grant writing experience is a requirement of most employers. Background in dealing with non-profit and philanthropic organizations is desirable. Experience in communicating with diverse personalities is a plus.
