Based on Dodge's successful three-quarter-ton Army truck, the civilian Power Wagon debuted in 1946 as a light-duty pickup. Sharing many components with Dodge's Ramcharger and Warlock pickups, the 1978-to-1979 release represented the final export production year for W100, W200 and W300 Power Wagons. Dodge introduced a successor to the Power Wagon, the Power Ram pick-up truck, in 1981.

    Engine

    • Base model Power Wagons had a 225-cc, in-line six-cylinder engine. An optional 318-cc V-8 engine was available for all models. Both engines could have either three- or four-speed manual transmissions or an automatic. Military M880 Power Wagons received automatic transmissions as standard equipment.

    Specifications

    • With a 6,481 pound payload, Power Wagons featured a full-time four-wheel-drive system that Dodge first introduced in 1975. Available in standard and Club Cab body styles, the three-quarter-ton pickup featured rugged 10- by 15-inch tires on a 126-inch wheelbase. Dodge later reverted to a part-time four-wheel-drive system in response to the 1980s energy crises.

    Models

    • Available in Custom, Adventurer and Adventurer SE trim levels, all Wagons featured two-tone instrument panels and seat trim. Custom models featured multi-tone seat inserts. Adventurer models had vinyl seats with embossed inserts, while SE Wagons gained cloth seats with vinyl inserts. Plaid cloth seats with vinyl bolsters were available upgrades for Custom and Adventurer models.

    Optional Accessories

    • As part of its late-1970's "Adult Toys" lineup, Dodge released a "Macho" package upgrade for Power Wagon, Warlock and Ramcharger pickups. Macho packages included fancy wheels, special paint treatments, Super Graphics lettering and many interior and exterior customizations.
