Natural high cholesterol remedies do not have to be something that are overly complicated.
In fact, natural high cholesterol remedies can be as straightforward as simply making some lifestyle changes.
Obviously there can be occasions where the cause of high cholesterol is through genes that have been inherited which makes things a little bit more complicated, however for the most part it is quite often down to the decisions that we make on how we treat our bodies.
When it comes to reducing high cholesterol the one that we are particularly looking to reduce is our LDL cholesterol, sometimes known as the bad cholesterol.
We do want to keep this down to manageable levels however we do not want to reduce it too much as it still has an important function within our bodies.
There is another type of cholesterol which is the HDL, often referred to as the good, and we actually want to increase the amount of this cholesterol.
The reason we want high levels of HDL is because the more of it there is then the less LDL those going to be floating about in our blood creating havoc with our hearts.
So, bearing that in mind the following natural high cholesterol remedies will be aimed at reducing high LDL at the same time as increasing our HDL.
  1. Omega3's - Omega threes help us because what they do is lower triglyceride levels.
The reason that we want to lower the triglyceride levels is because HDL has the function of removing them from the body, and the more HDL that there is tied up with this function then the less HDL is available to take the LDL cholesterol back to the liver for reprocessing.
Therefore less triglycerides means increased HDL which means reduced LDL.
  2. Trans fats - Trans fats are man made fats, and they are created when vegetable oil is turn into a solid form which is known as vegetable fat or hydrogenated vegetable oil.
These kind of fats are often added to foods such as cookies, chocolates and ready-made meals as they increase their shelf life.
In addition to that many fast food outlets also use these kind of fats for deep frying.
The problem with trans fats is that they create havoc within the body and actually increase the amount of LDL that you have and decrease the amount of HDL that you have.
So as you can probably guess by cutting these kinds of foods out your HDL is going to go up and your LDL is going to go down.
  3. Exercising - One of the best natural high cholesterol remedies that you can get started with straight away is exercising.
Exercising is excellent because it can help you in a couple ways.
First of all if you are severely overweight or obese, and these conditions lead to high cholesterol levels, then exercising will help you to lose some of this weight.
In addition to that what exercising does for everybody regardless of their weight is help to increase the amount of HDL in the blood.
The most effective way to achieve increased HDL through exercising is not by intensity but through duration; therefore something as simple as walking briskly or cycling on a daily basis for 30 minutes or so will help increase HDL and lower LDL.
