Sync Problems With Windows Vista 64-Bit & the Palm Tungsten E2
- 1). Download the Outlook 2007 patch, which updates Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager (see Resources).
- 2). Click "Run" to automatically install the Outlook 2007 patch.
- 3). Restart the computer to complete the installation process.
- 1). Click "Start," "Programs," "Palm" and click on "HotSync Manager."
- 2). Wait several seconds for HotSync Manager to launch on the computer's window.
- 3). Attempt to sync the Tungsten by connecting it to the computer with the USB cable.
- 1). Click "Start," "Control Panel" and select "Uninstall a program."
- 2). Locate "Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager." Right-click on it and select "Uninstall." Wait for the application to be removed from the computer and restart.
- 3). Download Palm Desktop 6.2 and HotSync Manager (see Resources).
- 4). Click "Run" in the pop-up window that appears to automatically install the program.
- 1). Press and hold the Tungsten's power button. Wait for the phone to shut off.
- 2). Remove the battery from the back of the phone. Wait several seconds for the phone to reset. (No data will be erased from the phone.)
- 3). Replace the battery and power on the device.
- 4). Enter the system's date and time. Wait for the phone to start up and attempt to synchronize the phone.
- 1). Remove the USB cable from the Tungsten and the computer.
- 2). Wait several seconds so that Windows will recognized that the device has been disconnected.
- 3). Replace the cable between the device and the computer.
Update HotSync Manager with the Outlook 2007 Patch
Ensure HotSync Manager is Active
Reinstall Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager
Perform a Soft Reset
Make Sure the Data Cable is Secure
